I cannot work, walk or talk with music in the background. I do not understand the pleasures in listening to an iPod. I have tried. But it does not work for me. Unless the volume is intolerably loud. Irresponsibly loud. (And I already know that my ears are failing me.)

I find it easy to work with music on. There is nothing I love more than rocking out. I do it as much as I can. Me and my headphones: a perfect pair. The volume need not be loud. But I cannot help myself. (I know that my ears are failing me, but my choices are limited.)
